About DMRC

The UO Data and Media Research Collaboratory is a cross-disciplinary faculty research group studying how data is developed and used, the values and ethics of data & media, how media shape data, and how data and media contribute to the dramatically changing social and historical formations in which we find ourselves today.

We approach data and media from perspectives rooted in historical, theoretical, ethical, cultural, and social scientific research traditions.

We organize small faculty-focused research seminars and workshops, as well as major public events. Our first such event was the conference Living Data: Inhabiting New Media, co-sponsored by the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics. You can view a selected list of our publications here.
