Growing Comfortable with my Sense of Achievement

The will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential… these are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.

My motivation. What is it? What makes me get up in the morning?

Motivation… What is MY motivation?

Geez, this question is harder than you think! To be able to say “this” is what motivates me to get up everyday and do my best, is an incredibly difficult task. When I did the exercise for this week and it was eye-opening to say the least. I had to face challenges and analyze that one situation where I had to deal with something where I was taking out of my comfort zone. I had to take myself back to the feeling of insecurity that I felt at the beginning of my senior year when I was challenged by a fellow student who felt that I was incapable of leading our student body government once our president stepped down. I knew that I was right for the position, I knew that I could turn the entire situation around if I was diligent and worked hard enough. I realized that very doubt that was cast on me, lit a fire in me and motivated me to do more and prove them wrong. To say the least, I did 😉 I ended up getting Most Outstanding Senior and Student Council Member of the Year. As I stood up on the stage and looked out at the auditorium and saw all of my friend’s faces, I felt a sense of pride and accomplishment.

So, in conclusion, my motivation is that very moment of pride and accomplishment that I felt. I don’t ever want to feel insecure about something that I’ve earned; I want to be proud and relish in it but still stay humble, of course. I want to strive to do more and be the best that I can be in all that I do.

Love,

Dan
