3D printing cost

How to determine the total cost of your 3D print

Printing costs are determined by cubic volume of the combined model and support material used (see below).

model material (in3) + support material (in3) = total material volume (in3)

Parts will always be built using a “sparse fill” setting, unless otherwise specified, to reduce material costs. Sparse fill, as opposed to a solid fill, creates a porous lattice of material to support the model’s structure.

To determine model and support material volume, please follow these instructions: Using Catalyst EX To Determine Material Usage.

Cost for 3D Technology Services

Individual Projects: $10 per cubic inches (in3) of total material (model + support)
Faculty Submitted Class Projects: $8 per cubic inches (in3) of total material (model + support)
