WHY I CAME TO THE UO AND HOW I CHOSE MY MAJOR
I chose the UO for its art history department to combine this with my area of study. I also chose it for the encouraging art department faculty.
I want to be an art professor and a BFA is positioning me for success for my future goals. Next an MFA!
UNIQUE QUALITIES I BRING TO MY STUDIES
I am a transfer student fromRogue Community College and it’s definitely been an interesting experience coming in as a transfer student from a community college rather than a four year university. I also come from a teaching background as a swim instructor, something I’m extremely passionate about as a healthy way to exercise and to have as a life skill. I also was fortunate to have the experience of winning the 2017 Congressional District Art award and was flown out to Washington DC for the ceremony.
MY INFLUENTIAL PROFESSORS
My ceramics professor of two terms, Stacy Jo Scott, has fostered my love of ceramics and 3D media. This growth in my work has expanded my art practice monumentally. I feel more creative and intuitive with my work in all areas as a result.
MY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Due to the Covid pandemic, I haven’t been involved in many extracurricular activities. When we’re all back on campus in the fall, I’d absolutely love to join a community action, environmental policy and women’s group on campus.
MY GREATEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT UO
This whole year has been an incredible learning experience, not only in school but life as well.
AFTER GRADUATION
I look forward to continuing my education in an MFA program to further my goal to become a university professor. I also look forward to partnering with a gallery and gaining experience in the art world.
YOUR GIFT
Scholarships like these ease financial pressure that is overwhelming at times.
Thank you for your continued support of the arts and students like me. My education is possible due to your support.
