WHY I CAME TO THE UO AND HOW I CHOSE MY MAJOR
I chose the University of Oregon because of its location in the Pacific Northwest and the program’s specialty in ecological design.

I chose to study landscape architecture because of my love of public space. I hope to contribute to my community through the design of spaces that are beautiful, healthy, and inspiring.

UNIQUE QUALITIES I BRING TO MY STUDIES
I have a work backgorund in food banking and community food systems organizing.

MY INFLUENTIAL PROFESSORS
Professor Lopez-Buson has been particularly influential for me so far. I did not expect to find using technology that inspiring when I first entered the field, but he has opened my mind to the possibilities that computational and technology-driven design can lead me toward.

MY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am a regular volunteer with Eugene-Springfield Safe Routes to School. I am passionate about active transportation and safe public space, so I enjoy working with K-12 students with the SRTS program.

MY GREATEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT UO
Spending July at the Fuller’s Overlook Farm in Pennsylvania, living and studying with my classmates was an incredible experience.

AFTER GRADUATION
After graduation, I hope to work toward licensure as a landscape architect and design spaces for the public good.

YOUR GIFT
These scholarships are helping me attend graduate school with a lessened financial burden. Fewer loans upon graduation will allow me to make choices about my career that are more true to my interests rather than primarily financially-driven.

Thank you! Education is both power and pleasure, and I feel grateful to be here.
