The Donna V. Sundberg Scholarship in Architecture

M. Douglas Ray, MS ’67 (education), PhD ’77 (counseling psychology), established this scholaship in 2000 to honor Donna Sundberg (1924 – 2013), who was the wife of his mentor, Dr. Norm D. Sundberg (1922-2014) who was a UO faculty member for nearly 50 years. Dr. Sundberg held many positions including head of the Clinical Psychology program, dean of the graduate school, and founder of the Wallace School of Community & Public Affairs (now the School of Planning, Public Policy and Management). Mrs. Sundberg aspired to pursue her education in architecture, but when she enrolled in the University of Minneapolis in 1945, she found women to be discouraged from the profession and program. She instead earned her BA in psychology. In her honor, this scholarship supports students who demonstrate merit and financial need, support the advancement of women in the profession, and demonstrate interest and promise in the fields of architecture and interior architecture.
