This is a photo of me when I was doing American pika research along with bat research in caves. We were looking at historic remains of pika and also the prevalence of white-nose syndrome in bats.

I Am Originally From Eugene, OR

WHY I CAME TO THE UO AND HOW I CHOSE MY MAJOR
I chose to attend UO because of ts renowned PPPM program and to be close to family.

I lived in Bend and saw how important it was to incorporate and help foster a better relationship with wild areas and urban areas and I want to help do that.

UNIQUE QUALITIES I BRING TO MY STUDIES
I have many years of working as a wildlife biologist. I am a non-traditional student so I came into this program with many life skills that I think enrich the classroom and my school work.

MY GREATEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT UO
My greatest learning experience has been through my involvement in the Community Planning Workshop (CPW), which is an applied planning, public policy, and economic development research program in PPPM where graduate students are partneer with Oregon communities to work on community-driven projects.

AFTER GRADUATION
My biggest hope is to engage in work that pushes communities and rural areas to protect and engage in the natural world safely. Not only for native plants and animals but also for humans. I believe there needs to be better connections between the natural and urban world and to help support the fragile ecosystem we so easily take for granted.

YOUR GIFT
With this scholarship, I will be able to focus more time on extracurricular activities instead of worrying about how to support myself and pay for tuition. This will allow for more engagement in environmental activities.

Thank you!
