Previous Degree: BIArch, University of Oregon, Eugene, OR

I’m From: Seattle, WA

Why I Came to the UO and How I Chose My Major
I went to the UO College of Design for my undergraduate degree in interior architecture. I believe that UO has one of the best architecture and design programs in the US. I am honored to be receiving two degrees from this school

I have always loved design. My mother is a landscape architect, therefore I have been around design my entire life. I want to become a well-rounded designer, as all the best ones are.

I look forward to learning from Howard Davis. I have always respected and admired his design style and principles. His designs are backed by history and the lives of the people who use his spaces. I would like to create spaces that help people’s lives the way Howard’s designs do.

Unique Qualities I Bring to My Studies
My parents own a landscape and construction business. I grew up helping them on the job site learning the tools and skills to build beautiful things. My last two years of high school, I put that knowledge to use by building a small 10×12 studio building in the back woods of our house. My life was all about the physical application of design and now I have the knowledge to back it.

Extracurricular Activities I Want to Pursue
I am looking forward to being a part of the various outdoor programs and art programs at UO. I would like to expand my design abilities into landscape and more artistic applications.

After Graduation
My hope is to start working in a firm to gain more knowledge and experience. Ultimately, my dream is to then start my own design firm that encompasses all design and art and focuses on the lives of people and how to creatre environments that will help them be the best they can be.

Your Gift
This scholarship means freedom. Freedom to learn, freedom to be successful without the added stress of debt, freedom to explore new ways of thinking by opening up my mind to think about more than tuition. When someone is free, truly free, they can achieve more than ever imagined. To be untethered, I will be able to achieve my design dreams.

Thank you is not enough to express how much this scholarship has changed my life.
