I Am Originally From Eugene, OR

WHY I CAME TO THE UO AND HOW I CHOSE MY MAJOR
I chose the University of Oregon not only becuase I am from Eugene, but becuase I enjoy the culture of the UO. I am also very happy with the architecture department, and studying architecture (although a ton of work) is extremely fun, and perfect for me.

I have always wanted to become an architect since I was a young boy. I am extremely passionate about building, construction, and design, and architecture fits all of those interests.

UNIQUE QUALITIES I BRING TO MY STUDIES
I bring the knowledge of costumer service skills, and finance/investing skills. As a high school student I never had time to do extra curricular activities becuase I had to work full time, but to this day I wouldn’t take that back becuase I learned so much working for a retirement home and restaurant. I also taught myself how to invest in the stock market, and I have been trying to invest the extra money I have from working to help pay for my college funds, this is becuase I do not have financial support from family, and I didn’t receive scholarships until now.

MY INFLUENTIAL PROFESSORS
I enjoyed learning from Clay Neal, he is a very humble and nice professor, and he was probably the best studio professor I have had so far.

MY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Sadly I am not. With going to school full time (usually around 18 credits) and working a job, I do not have much free time to get involved with student organizations and or sports. I would like to get involved with something over the summer, and I am actively looking for internships.

MY GREATEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT UO
My greatest learning experince has been learning how to draw and build models!

AFTER GRADUATION
I plan on moving to New York City where I will become an architectural intern and work on getting my license. I also plan on getting into real estate development and investing later on down the road.

YOUR GIFT
This scholarship is very meaningful to me. It’s one of the only scholarships I have gotten, and it makes me happy knowing that my student debt is a little less. I have been applying to dozens of scholarships since senior year of high school, and I am excited that I finally got one!

Thank you for your generosity. I am happy to know that someone is supporting students in financial need, and I hope more students in my similar situation are able to get the much needed help that we need. A lot of finacial aid is based mostly on parents’ income, and students in my situation aren’t eligible for much aid, and scholarships like this one are what makes attending college possible, and affordable.
