I Am Originally From Tigard, Oregon

WHY I CAME TO THE UO AND HOW I CHOSE MY MAJOR
Given that Oregon has been home for most of my life and we have one of the best Iinterior Architecture programs in the country, choosing UO to pursue my master’s was an easy decision. What I like most about the College of Design is its spirit of collaboration and exploration.

As an undergraduate, I majored in Psychology. After college, I realized that I could channel my understanding of psychology, organizational acumen, and passion for creative arts into Interior Architecture.

UNIQUE QUALITIES I BRING TO MY STUDIES
Before graduate school, I worked as an administrative assistant. Unexpectedly, that job played a part in leading me to design. I was asked to organize supplies and furniture in the “Break-Out Room” used for small meetings and brainstorming sessions, I realized I had a knack for spatial organization that I wanted to explore further.

MY INFLUENTIAL PROFESSORS
All of the Interior Architecture faculty have had deep and unique impacts on my development as a designer–I can’t choose just one most influential professor.

MY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
Last year, I served as Treasurer of the UO Industrial Designers Society of America Student Chapter (IDSA). My only regret is that I didn’t join sooner! Though I only served for one year before graduating, it was such a valuable experience. I’m proud of the work the other officers and I did to rebuild the Interior Architecture community at UO as we emerged from the pandemic.

MY GREATEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT UO
Perseverance.

AFTER GRADUATION
I just graduated in June, and I’m excited to begin professional life at an architecture or interior design firm that cares as deeply about the environmental and human context of design as I do.

YOUR GIFT
As I face the uncertainty that comes with transitioning from academic to professional life, receiving recognition for my work has meant a great deal to me.

I have the greatest respect and gratitude for your continued support of Interior Architecture students at UO. Thank you!
