WHY I CAME TO THE UO AND HOW I CHOSE MY MAJOR
I chose the University of Oregon for the exceptional opportunity of working with different disciplines, which has empowered my non-binary thinking and elevated my skills at connecting with other fields that are commonly deemed as “irrelevant” to my internal degree (at least others think that way). That’s been the most exciting gift that UO has given to me.

I have always been interested in the art of design as well as engineering and one of the few fields that offers both territories at the same time is Architecture and that drew me into this field.

UNIQUE QUALITIES I BRING TO MY STUDIES
Travels! I think visiting different countries prior to my PhD program at UO has significantly broaden my mindset.

MY INFLUENTIAL PROFESSORS
Dr. Kevin Van Den Wymelenberg, Professor of Architecture, is truly an inspiring person and a great professor. He has transformed the way I think about work, research, and social interactions. I am so grateful for the pleasure of working with him.

MY GREATEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT UO
β€œThe only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that our very existence is an act of rebellion.” -Albert Camus

That has been a good learning experience πŸ˜‰

AFTER GRADUATION
I’d love to bring the knowledge that UO gave me to industry and help make the planet a safer place for itself and us to live.

YOUR GIFT
These generous awards mean more than financial assistance to me. They mean how my department and the University notice and acknowledge our efforts especially during a challenging time we all passed through. To me, these awards are catalyzers that help me overcome hesitancy and conspiracies when I am knocked down on the path.

I deeply appreciate your generosity. Thank you.
