I Am Originally From Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo

WHY I CAME TO THE UO AND HOW I CHOSE MY MAJOR
I chose the UO because of its outstanding reputation of being a good college that focuses on sustainability. I thing that the diversity around the College of Design is a big plus in helping me to improve my skills and being comfortable around many different cultures.

I became interested in design and interior architecture when I was a kid traveling around with my family.

UNIQUE QUALITIES I BRING TO MY STUDIES
Growing up, I was affected by war and seeing houses destroyed around me has changed my way of thinking and made more focused on what I want to do with my life.

MY INFLUENTIAL TEACHERS
In high school, I had a teacher named Mr. Emmanual, He was my math teacher for 3 year and he taught me a lot about math and most definitely about life. He inspired me to pursue my major. It was such a pleasure and a privilege to be one of his students back then. May he Rest In Peace.

MY EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
I am the Co-Director of the UO African Student Association. It’s important to me because it helps me share my culture and learn about other cultures.

MY GREATEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE AT UO
My greatest learning experience at UO has been the opportunity to spend time and learn along side people from different backgrounds.

AFTER GRADUATION
After graduation, I want to return home and work to re-build my home city affected by wars, and I want to make it better and sustainable utilizing everything I’m learning at UO.

YOUR GIFT
This scholarship will be a great relief to my parents and help me achieve my goals. It is important to me because it helps my parents save for my other family members that are pursuing goals as well. It’s helping me achieve my dream by being more focused on what I have to do at school.
