Resources for Online Teaching/Connectivity

Design Faculty,

I understand many of you are asking questions about how to present classes and lectures online and what resources are available. Many of us on campus are trying to get ahead of it all post information. You have access to the following tools:

Canvas
Panopto from within Canvas
Microsoft Teams (Chat, Video, OneDrive storage)
Zoom (Site License is coming)
Course Folders
Loaner Laptops

Training Info:

• A communication will go out soon with a few Zoom training sessions that will be hosted by Sean Sharp in M283. These will happen next week. Stay tuned.
• Carol Gehring and the Online Team are offering Canvas trainings, more info is available (with support links) on the Provost site here: https://provost.uoregon.edu/academic-continuity-preparations
• I am working with a group to put together a series of links for how to use these tools and we hope to link it from the COVID-19 website. It lives in the Service Portal and is here: https://service.uoregon.edu/TDClient/2030/Portal/KB/ArticleDet?ID=100589

  We will try to answer your questions as fast as we can, but please understand that we are inundated right now with trying to get through normal day to day as well as plan for COVID-19. Emailing us directly may not get the result you are looking for.

What I ask of you:

• Please be patient.
• Please review all training materials and make the effort to get familiar on your own.
• Make sure your laptop is up to date and you have the ability to work remotely (camera, adapters, microphone, etc.).
• If you have any software requirements for students, please do let us know.
• If you are well versed in teaching via Zoom or Teams, please share your knowledge.

I will be monitoring messages from the Dean/Department Heads and also campus at large, will report back when appropriate.
