Course Change Resources

New and Changed Courses

All new courses and courses undergoing significant modification must go through College and University committee processes using the UO Courseleaf program. Coursleaf is linked to the academic catalog and degree audit systems.

The process starts with the faculty proposing the course and the department and goes through the following steps:

  • Department Committee
  • College of Design Academic Affairs Committee
  • UO Committee on Courses
  • University Senate

College of Design Academic Affairs Committee

There are two roles of the College Academic Affairs Committee:

  • Review courses to ensure no overlap with courses in the College
  • Provide feedback to ensure new and revised courses meet all requirements and are approved by the UO Committee on Courses and UO Senate

Minor Changes Not Requiring Full Review

UOCC Rules: The following minor course changes may be made without full review by the UO Committee on Courses:

  • Minor revisions to a course description
  • Minor grading option changes
  • Adding or removing a generic course (e.g., Thesis)

Submit these requests directly to the UO Curriculum Coordinator, the UO Catalog editor in the Office of Communications, and the curriculum coordinator in the Office of the Registrar. Extensive (or possibly problematic) changes may require full review by the UOCC for consideration.

Reinstating a Course Not Requiring Review

UOCC Rules: A course that has been dropped by administrative action for having not been taught may be reinstated without review anytime within the three following years by appropriate notice to the Office of the Registrar, and copying such action to UO Curriculum Coordinator and the UO Catalog Editor for inclusion in the UOCC report to the senate and reinstatement in the UO Catalog. Such notice must indicate (a) the term in which the course will be taught, and (b) name the instructor who will teach it. The Registrar must be assured that the course will be taught as previously approved during the present or the next academic year.

All Other Course Changes or Proposals for New Courses

New or revised courses must be submitted through Courseleaf. Check with your department head or staff to determine who has access.
