Event Promotion

The Communications office assists departments and programs with publicizing events to internal and external audiences.

Channels

  • UO Events Calendar: This is UO’s starting point for publicizing all UO events open to the public in Eugene and Portland. Departments and individuals with a DuckID can post directly to the calendar. We provide instructions to help departments get started, and can provide guidance if there are any questions about this. Review our tips on how to make your calendar entry as effective as possible. Events entered by department staff into the UO events calendar can get additional exposure on the “Upcoming Events” feed on the College of Design homepage, and the “Events” section on each department’s landing page.
  • Upcoming Events Email: On Mondays during the academic year, we send a weekly digest of the upcoming events affiliated with the College of Design. This information is compiled from events entered into the UO event calendar that fall within a two-week window of the send date. The digest is emailed to college faculty and staff, current students, as well as the Dean’s Advancement Council, Eugene and Southern Oregon art/design and architecture audiences, and our Portland art and design and architecture lists (~2,800). Follow our instructions to have your event included in the upcoming events email.
  • Digital Displays: College of Design departments and programs can post event information on digital displays (i.e. plasma screens) in Lawrence Hall and at the White Stag Building in Portland at no charge. Please follow our instructions to submit a slide advertising your event. We provide departments with marketing templates and specs.
  • Social Media: High-priority college-wide events, announcements, and news can be shared through College of Design’s social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn). Departments and programs are responsible for posting their events to their own social media accounts. See our social media guidelines for more information.
