Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

All UO staff are expected to be familiar with Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) regulations. Staff should not release any information about students without ensuring that the release of that information complies with FERPA. Details are available on the University website: https://registrar.uoregon.edu/records-privacy.

Please note that photographs or videos of classes, events, or other functions reflecting student life cannot be published on websites or social media, in school catalogs, magazines, or other publicity materials if those photographs and/or videos contain enrolled students, as they may be considered educational records under FERPA. Publishing these materials requires the prior written consent of the students appearing in the photographs and/or videos. Consent forms for this purpose are available on the University website above.
