My name is Alyson and I am with an organization called 1000 Friends of Oregon. We are excited to be hosting a free event in Eugene next week that brings a collaborative artist duo into town to discuss their latest work, Water Rising. Water Rising is a book of watercolors and poetry inspired by the natural world.

Garth Evans is an internationally renowned sculptor and Leila Philip is an award-winning prose author. Their presentation explores the intersection of art, language, and the environment.

We want to extend the invitation for this event to your students and faculty, and I would be happy to supply you with additional information to get the word out to the University’s Department of Art. For now, I have attached a couple of flyers and a press release with more info.

This event is free, we will be raffling off copies of the book, and we will be serving refreshments.

I think this would be a great learning opportunity for the community at large, but in particular UofO’s art students. Water Rising combines multiple medias and builds on a mission of environmental stewardship, which I think could resonate with members of your department.

When: October 12, 5-7:30pm
Where: First United Methodist Church – 1367 Olive St. Eugene, OR
