7/24/23 – 9/01/23 Knight Library 4th Floor Fireproofing Repair Advisory

Scope:  The 4th floor fireproofing repair will begin next Monday and be completed in two phases, per the attached drawing.  Phase one (7/24-8/9) will require that elevator 7 be taken out of service during the dates of 7/25-7/28. Phase two will be from 8/10-9/1.

Services Impacted:  The area in construction will be closed off to patrons of the library.

7/18/23 – 9/11/23 Lawrence Hall Wheelchair Lift Replacement

UPDATE:
The demolition is complete, but the new lift is schedule to arrive and be installed September 5th through September 11th.  The loading dock at the north of Lawrence Hall will be impacted by this as well as the lift area itself.

Scope:  Demolition and prep work to replace the wheelchair lift to the mezzanine will begin next Tuesday.  The demolition will involve disassembling and removing the existing lift.

Services Impacted:

  • The contractor will be using the stairs S270 and elevator E270 to remove the old lift and other debris during this process.
  • Part of the loading dock on the north side of Lawrence will also be in use by the contractor.
  • Construction noise can be expected during this time.

4/24/23 – 8/31/23 Fenton Hall Room 314 Construction Work Advisory

UPDATE 7/06/23:
Due to renovations on the top floor of Fenton Stacks, the fire sprinkler system will need to be shut down for alterations on Thursday, July 20th, from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Work will take place in room 314 but the shutdown will affect the entire building.  The contractors involved are GB Construction and Harvey & Price.

Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

UPDATE 6/28/23:
Due to alterations to the upper level of the Fenton Stacks (room 314), the network cables will need to be relocated on Monday, July 10th, from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.  This will involve some down-time for UO network cables and Wi-Fi access in Fenton 314, 214, and 114. This outage should not affect the main Fenton building users, but will affect the library stacks.

Scope:  Fenton Hall room #314 (upper floor of the stacks) will be converted to office space. Starting the week of 4/24/23, GBC Construction will be on site performing demolition, adding new HVAC components, and building new walls within the space. Construction is scheduled to continue through August. Additional updates may be published for specific noise events or building system shutdowns.

Services Impacted:  Building users in adjacent spaces may hear general construction noise, and elevator may be used to facilitate transportation of certain materials.

4/07/23 and 4/28/23 – 13th Ave Garage Elevator Shutdown

UPDATE 4/20/23: 
A second attempt to seal the elevator pit will take place on Friday, April 28th, at 9:30 am.  Work is expected to last for approximately 1.5 hours and elevators can resume operation directly after repair attempt.

 

UPDATE 4/7/23: 
Work has been completed ahead of schedule.  Both elevators are now operational.

  • Signs will be placed outside the garage entrances to remind users that the elevators will be offline.
  • Both elevators will be down the majority of the day.

2/18/23 Huestis Basement and Lokey Labs Electrical Shutdown

The shutdown was not able to be completed as scheduled.  The work described below has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 18.

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  Huestis Basement and Lokey Labs

Scope:  As part of the Huestis Hall Renovation project, normal power will be offline for installation of temporary power j-boxes and electrical conduit reconfiguration in the Huestis basement. The shutdown of the 600 amp disconnect will temporarily shut down normal power to all Lokey Labs systems on panel 2N2 including heating water, and all Huestis Basement systems on panels Bn3-2, Bn4-2, Bn5-2, and Bn6-2.

Per previous shutdowns to these panels, it was determined that critical equipment is on standby power.

Services Impacted:

  • This will affect the electrical, fume hoods, heating systems, chilled water, and exhaust.
  • The work is scheduled for 5 hours on Saturday, but the shutdown is not expected to take the full duration.

Special Instructions:  Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. The software on these machines can be negatively affected due to the power surge when the power is turned back on.  A power surge can corrupt the clone files in the machines and change preconfigured settings.

Additional Instructions:  Fume hood sashes should be closed and containers within the fume hoods sealed prior to this date.

1/03/23 Klamath Hall Electrical Panel Shutdown

Power was restored to Klamath Hall.  All electrical is back in normal status.

 

UPDATE:
The Onyx Bridge east elevator will also be down during this time.

Building Affected:  Klamath Hall

Scope:  The main electrical panels will be shut down to evaluate components and test breakers after water intrusion that occurred on 12/10/22.

Services Impacted:  This will affect the electrical power, exhaust, fume hoods, heating, HVAC Air Supply, lab vacuum, and elevator.

Special Instructions:

  • Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages.
