3/27/25 Erb Memorial Union Exterior Power Washing Advisory

The purpose of this notification is to inform building occupants of the EMU and nearby buildings of the work being done on 3/27/2025 outside of the EMU Fishbowl and Ballroom starting at 7:00 am until 2:00 pm.  EMU Staff will be power washing the overhang roofing.

The areas effected will be:

  • Ballroom terrace and doors will be closed, due to anchoring system
  • Main seating area of the Fishbowl closed, in direct over spray area
  • Main lobby doors L101 open
  • V111 open
  • 161 North entrance closed
  • All entrances and exits will be available for egress

We will have a staff on the ground to help assist with directing people of where the work is happening.

In addition to the electrical shutdowns, the domestic water will be offline on Tuesday, March 25th, from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.  This will impact the restrooms, sinks, and drinking fountains.

 

1st Electrical Outage:       Monday, March 24, 2025, at 6:00 am to 9:00 am

Water Shutdown:              Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 6:00 am to 3:00 pm

2nd Electrical Outage:      Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 6:00 am to 10:00 am

3rd Electrical Outage:      Friday, March 28, 2025, at 6:00 am to 9:00 am

Building(s) or Area(s) Affected:  UO Portland Innovation Center

Scope:  Planned power outages are scheduled over spring break. The contractors will be installing new HVAC systems throughout various areas of the building.

Services Impacted:

  • This will affect electrical including lights, elevators/lifts, heating, and HVAC air supply.
  • There will be contractors in the hallways especially in the West side of the building particularly Levels 2 & 3 which may prevent movement through the hallways.
  • Expect temperatures to be inconsistent due to the power shutdowns.
  • Power and Internet will not be available during these times.

Special Instructions:  Please shut down and unplug all multi-function copier devices as well as any printers during scheduled power outages. Scope:  Due to a chilled water leak the Variable Frequency Drives(VFD) that control the heating and cooling water pumps that serve Anstett Hall have shorted out.  The heating water system will be brought back online this morning with the one spare VFD we have on hand and a replacement has been ordered to replace the drive to return the cooling pumps to service as soon as possible.  An update will be sent out once the heating is restored.

Services Impacted:  Heating and cooling will be unavailable to all Anstett Hall until repairs can be made.

The fire alarm testing is complete.

Scope:  There will be fire alarm testing and an inspection for the Office of General Counsel remodel.  The alarms will be put on battery backup 24 hours before.

Details:  Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.
