Onyx Bridge Noise Advisory 6/18

Facilities Liaisons,

As part of the Onyx Bridge Elevator Project on Tuesday 6/18 from 5:00 am to 9:00 am there will be concrete saw cutting in the basement. There will be a generator in the loading dock that provides the power for the concrete saw. There will be noise associated with this work.

Clinical Services Third Floor Renovation 7/24 – 8/13

Facilities Liaisons,

Beginning July 24th, and continuing until August 13th, Facilities Services and their subcontractors will be performing renovation work on the east wing of the 3rd floor of Clinical Services Building. This will involve asbestos abatement, as well as replacement of the acoustic tile ceiling, HVAC terminal units, and lighting and paint throughout the project area. Occupants can expect to hear normal and occasional construction noises such as hammering and drilling and may smell a water-based latex, non-toxic paint, during the process. Occupants can expect to see the contractor, their subs, and UO personnel entering/exiting the building with tools and materials during normal business hours.
During the abatement and HVAC terminal unit replacements, CPFM staff will turn off the HVAC system, which will affect areas outside the project area, including West halves of the first and second floors, and the entirety of the third floor. This work will be done after-hours to mitigate impacts to building occupants and activities during regular business hours. The HVAC shutdowns are scheduled to occur over two consecutive weekends from 6 pm on Fri 7/26 to 6 am on Mon 7/29, and 6 pm on Fri 8/2 to 6 am on Mon 8/5. HVAC will be functional during the week in between.
No utility disruptions or shutoffs are expected at this time; however, if there are any additional disruptions or shutdowns to services, an additional notice will be distributed.

Columbia Hall 2nd Floor Renovation 7/1 – 7/26

This project has been extended an additional week.  Impacts will be limited to patching and painting one wall.

Beginning July 1st, and continuing through July 19th 26th, Facilities Services, and their subcontractor will be performing renovation work in room 254C of Columbia Hall. This will involve exhaust duct and fan demolition, fume hood removal, electrical and paint. Users can expect to hear normal and occasional construction noises such as hammering and drilling and may smell a water-based latex, non-toxic paint, during the process. Users can expect to see UO Facilities personnel and their contractor entering/exiting the building with tools and materials during regular business hours. On July 2nd, access to rooms 254A and 254B will be restricted while the duct in the hallway is removed. No utility disruptions or shutoffs are expected at this time; however, if there are any additional disruptions or shutdowns to services, an additional notice will be distributed.

Clinical Services Elevator Out of Order 6/13/19

6/14/19 UPDATE:

The elevator has been repaired and is operational.

 

UPDATE:

The elevator will be down for the night.  Our OTIS technician will troubleshoot with his tech support tomorrow.  It is unknown at this time as to when it will be back up and running.  We will keep you posted.

 

 

The elevator is temporarily out of service while it is being worked on by an OTIS technician.

No ETA is currently available, but we will update you as we receive further information.

Oregon Hall Elevator #2 Temporarily Out of Service 6/13/19

The elevator has been repaired and is operational.

Elevator #2 is down for the night, but our technician hopes to have it operational tomorrow morning.  We will update you when it has been placed back in service.

1715 Franklin Fire Testing 6/13

There will be a brief fire alarm test in 1715 Franklin tomorrow morning (June 13) starting at 6:00 am.

Horns, Strobes, and Speakers on the fire alarm system will not sound after the scheduled time. Provisions have been taken to monitor the building fire systems during this time and alarms that occur after the scheduled time should be considered real events and occupants should evacuate as usual per the U of O Emergency Procedures.

Onyx Bridge West Elevator Shutdown 7/1 – 9/30

Update 9/30: This project is complete and the elevator is back in service.

 

Update 9/17:

This project has been extended and is expected to be completed on September 30th.

 

As part of the elevator modernization project,  Onyx West Elevator off the loading dock will be shut down from July 1st through September 15th 30th.  There will be increased contractor activity and noise associated with this work. During this time frame, please use the east elevator for access.

As part of the elevator upgrade project, the service elevator off the loading dock will be shut down from June 18th through September 20th.  There will be increased contractor activity in the building including noise.

1600 Millrace HVAC Update 6/11

Facilities Liaisons,

After several days of troubleshooting the HVAC unit that primarily serves the third floor of 1600 Millrace, it has been determined the unit has a failed part. Crews and the Contractor are researching where to acquire the necessary part and expedite it to campus. This may cause other areas of the building to experience warm temps.

Move Out Traffic Update 6/12 – 6/14

Campus Community,

Due to move outs changes to traffic patterns include:

  • June 12-14: Bike lanes on Agate Street between East 13th and East 15th avenues will be closed; 30-minute loading along the curb.
  • June 12-14: East 13th Avenue will be one way westbound between Agate and University streets.
  • June 12-14: Onyx Street adjacent to Straub Hall, Lot 29, and 15th Avenue from Onyx to University Street will be a 30-minute loading zone for residence hall move-out.

Klamath Hall Lab Vacuum Shutdown 6/20 – 6/21

As part of the 3rd-floor renovation, contractors need to relocate the rooftop vacuum pump that serves portions of the 2nd-floor. The vacuum will be unavailable in portions of the Klamath 2nd floor for the 2-day duration.  Please select the below drawing to see impacted areas.

Huestis Hall Electrical Outage Impacting Rooms on the Third Floor 6/18

CPFM Facilities Services Electrical Shop has scheduled an additional electrical outage in Huestis Hall impacting receptacles and plugmolds in rooms 330, 330A, 330B, 332, 334, dryer room 330 and autoclave room 330 on June 18 from 7 am – 8 am.  This is necessary due to a scope change.

Klamath Hall Exhaust and Fume Hood Shutdown 6/17

Facilities Liaisons,

As part of renovations, contractors need to access the north exhaust plenum on the roof to Install plenum separation for work related to the third-floor project. To enter the plenum, the northern exhaust fans have to be off for safety. The new separation will allow access as needed without additional exhaust fan shutdowns.

General lab exhaust and fume hood exhaust will be offline to the north half of the building for all floors on Monday, June 17th, for a seven-hour duration (5 am – 12 pm) at most.  Work will be performed by Lease Crutcher Lewis.

Special Instructions:

Prior to the shutdown fume hood sashes need to be closed in the north half of the building for all floors.

Pacific Hall Conference Room 13 Closure 6/7/19

Conference room 13 will be closed for three hours tomorrow morning, June 7th, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am, while we rebalance the system after our construction measures to reduce sound levels in this room.

This work will complete the sound reduction measures being taken in that space.

Work will be performed by Air Inc.

Utility Connections Related to the Black Cultural Center Project Impacting Areas Along 15th Ave 6/18 – 6/22

Campus Community,

As part of the Black Cultural Center project, Andersen Construction will perform underground utility connections from Moss Street east along 15th Ave to the Black Cultural Center construction site. The work will occur between June 18 – 22 from 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM.

The north end of Villard Alley at 15th Ave will be closed from June 18 – 22. Deliveries or access should be rerouted from 17th Ave. The northern end of Moss Street at 15th Ave will be closed from June 19 – 22. Deliveries or access should be rerouted from 17th Ave. The sidewalk on 15th Ave between Moss Street and Villard Street will be closed. Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted to the north sidewalk.

Sidewalk and Building Entrance Closure at Berwick Hall 6/10 – 6/12

Campus Community,

From June 10- June 12, Lease Crutcher Lewis will be pressure washing the wood facade at Berwick Hall between the hours of 7:00AM and 3:30PM. Sidewalks around the building will be temporarily blocked. The north exit out of Berwick Hall will be closed for about 1-2 hours in the early mornings while working near the exit. The noise impact will be equivalent to a lawnmower.

Knight Library #364-#366 Renovation 6/17/19 – 8/31/19

Beginning June 17th, and continuing until the end of August, the general contractor, Preferred Construction, and their subs will be doing renovation work in rooms 364-366 in the Knight Library.  This will involve asbestos abatement, minor demo and framing, drywall, duct work, electrical, carpet and paint.  Users can expect to hear normal and occasional construction noises such as hammering and drilling, and may smell a water-based latex, non-toxic paint, during the painting portion.  Users will see the contractor, their subs and UO personnel entering/exiting the building with tools and materials during normal business hours.

During abatement (6/18-6/20), CPFM staff will turn off the HVAC system, which might affect areas outside the construction zone on the third floor.

No other utility disruptions or shutoffs are expected at this time, but if there are any more, then an additional notice will be distributed.
