Context:  

My grandmother took this picture of my cousin Sydney and me at our great-grandmother’s gravestone in Glava, Sweden upon which we buried her remains and celebrated her life with our Swedish family. Here Golden Ann Henning lies with the rest of her Secund family buried on the grounds of her childhood Church.

Information:

This document names Golden and Alvah Henning and their living children: Bonita (Bunny), and Susan. Bonita (line 19) is 7 years old. Susan (line 20) is 3 years old. Alvah (line 17) is listed as a Salesman in the Industry Retail Paint Me.

Information:

Teddy died at the age of two on December 6, 1947, due to myocarditis which is a heart condition.

Martin Secund’s Gravestone. 

Context

Martin Secund is Golden’s father—thus making him my great great grandfather. This is his headstone in the Oakwood Cemetary in Allegan, Michigan where him, his wife ester, and their daughter Golden lived after their immigration to the United States.

Information:

Martin died of fatal wounds from a supposed robbery in Hunstville, Texas.

Information: 

This census under Occupation lists Martin as a “Farmer” for himself and a “Servant” for Esther. Golden is listed under “Goldie”—the Americanized version of her Swedish name Gulli.
