I majored in Classics with a focus on Classical Archaeology and graduated in 2015.
I graduated with an MA Classics in 1997. My thesis “The Wit of Sextus Propertius” was advised by P. Lowell Bowditch.
I began the MA program with the simple goal of learning more about Latin and Greek; I was soon drawn into the world of classical scholarship. My professors were all actively engaged in their respective fields and they shared their research. I loved the small classes on that beautiful campus where I could meet individually with my professors. Certainly, the MA Classics program prepared me well for doctoral studies, but most importantly, it was a place where I grew confident about pursuing my own interests no matter where they led me, whether academia or art or simple enjoyment of intellectual exploration.
Colette Wright graduated from the University of Oregon in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and a minor in Classical Civilization. Her favorite classes as a Classics student focused on Greek history, language, literature, and culture.
