Position Description:
The BendFilm Festival intern will receive the opportunity to learn the intricate workings of a film festival Moviemaker Magazine named among the “50 Festivals Worth the Entrance Fee” in 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016. These duties will include help programming the final films, working with local bands to schedule music to play before films, working with filmmakers to gather film and travel information and entering all pertinent festival information in the online ticketing platform. The festival intern will assist the marketing team with social media support (working under the social media manager) and public relations. The intern will learn how to craft an effective press release and how to communicate with top media outlets.
The festival intern will also interact with audience members and serve a customer service role to assist in online ticket and pass purchases and system navigation. The festival intern will assist with filmmaker travel and lodging logistics leading up to the festival. The intern will be present to help out at pre-festival events checking in guests, helping with raffles and other event logistics.
During the festival, the intern will work closely with the BendFilm Office Manager to handle all aspects of the festival and troubleshoot problems. The intern will help the team at the festival box office and filmmaker’s lounge in setting up logistics and customer service. The intern will be able to interact with visiting filmmakers and assist them in navigating the festival. This part of the position is the most fun and rewarding…there will even be plenty of time to enjoy the parties and see a few films.
This position is perfect for any person interested in working for a film festival. This position also will help all aspiring filmmakers as the ‘inside’ look into programming will help inform the process of getting into festivals they apply for.
The intern will receive a stipend following the completion of the internship. The amount of stipend will depend on experience and level of commitment.
