Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is a landlocked nation of 18.75 million people. originally gaining its independence from Uzbeks in the 15th century, Kazakhstan was fully absorbed into the Russian empire in the 19th century before later becoming a part of the soviet union and finally regaining its independence in 1991. Kazakhstan is now a major producer of natural gas and a close ally to the Russian Federation and other CSTO members.
