Catalytic Conversation with Allie Tepper

510 Oak, July 19, 2019

Curator Allie Tepper, Mellon Interdisciplinary Fellow at the Walker Arts Center, came to Oregon through The Ford Family Foundation Connective Conversations / Curator and Critic Tour and Lecture series. Hosted by Reed College’s Cooley Gallery, Allie gave a public talk at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA) in Portland, OR, had studio visits with artists throughout the state, and participated in a Catalytic Conversation with CFAR affiliates in Eugene, OR.

CFAR’s Catalytic Conversations serve the practices of visiting artists, writers, designers, and curators by giving them an opportunity to engage a group of thinkers in ways that contribute to a project that the visitor is working on. Allie presented recent projects at the Walker Art Center, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and SculptureCenter (New York),  and concluded with an organic discussion about conceptual threads in her work, ways that these ideas are relevant and available to audiences, and the impacts institutions make on the content it supports.
