I just wanted to share my concerns about metrics. Specifically, many of the proposed quantitative metrics have been suggested by the university have been shown to be impacted by gender disparities (see citations below). I think this should be carefully considered, especially in light of the universities commitment to diversity and inclusion. Even if these metrics are used only at a department level they could be disadvantaging departments that have taken steps to reduce gender disparities. Although the citations below focus on gender disparities, many of these same arguments go for people of color and other groups under-represented in higher education.
