Well getting four people on the same page has been harder than expected. We are still trying to nail down dates for the interview and B-roll but in the meantime have been getting more details about how a car club works and how lowriding originated. Much like hot rodders did in the ’50s, the lowriding community began to organize themselves into a club to dispel the notion that they were all members of youth gangs who engaged in crime. They also developed hydraulics in order to bypass a law meant to keep their cars off the streets of California in 1959. In order to be a member of a car club a car must meet specific requirements. The chapter president interviews likely candidates and inspects their cars before giving approval. Who knew there was so much history and detail??? We sure didn’t but we are looking forward to learning more.
