Spent the weekend researching how lowriders became a part of latino culture. We found many interesting facts about how young latinos used lowriders in the 1950s and early ’60s as a form of ethnic expression in order to distinguish themselves from their anglo counterparts. Latinos went one step further in custom work building their cars with former airplane hydraulic systems adding art and style to older vehicles. Lowriding became a Chicano art form focused on bajito y suavecito, low and slow with the flair of hydraulics. How fascinating! Every hobby has a rich history behind it and we are eager to learn more.

We were also able to find out a little more information about Steven’s own vehicle, details such as custom lavender paint with violet pearl and a candied roof. We can’t wait to see it and the work he’s put in!
