Mark Gould, Brian McWhorter (AKA Pink Baby Monster), and students from Mannes School of Music and the School of Jazz will be performing 12 brand new works, including the premier of PBM’s newest skit, Carmen.
These new works were developed over a 5 day intensive period where students worked with Pink Baby Monster to conceptualize, plan, produce, and rehearse their own short compositions that weave together multiple disciplines and approaches to art making.

Inside the Monsters‘ Studio, is a workshop for performing artists where participants brainstorm, create, produce and perform an original show – all within 5 days. Led by the original members of Pink Baby Monster, Mark Gould (The Juilliard School & Manhattan School of Music) and Brian McWhorter (University of Oregon), the workshop starts with the premise that performing artists, who spend the majority of their education honing their craft in a saturated field, need dedicated need time to explore “outside the box,” improvise solutions to imminent problems, and see their performing characters in a different light. Originally conceived at the University of Oregon’s Summer Academy of Inspired Learning in 2012, Inside the Monster‘s Studio premiered at the Banff Centre in 2014 where participants engaged in daily production meetings, writing sessions, master classes, and creative exercises.
