This is the first episode of the CON GANAS podcast, where we sit down with Adriana Miranda. Adriana is a Mexicana living in OR and a dedicated advocate for her Latinx community. She is the executive director of Causa, Oregon’s immigrant rights organization located in Salem. In this episode, Adriana shares her vivid memories of crossing the border, the hustle of starting a new life in OR and her parents’ undying perseverance to keep their Mexican culture alive. This podcast also touches on the human cost of immigration laws, such as IRCA and the SAW programs of 1986, which provided a path to citizenship for millions such as the Miranda family.
