My name is Brenton Hirao. I am a Ph.D student at the University of Oregon Earth Sciences department, where I work with Professor Amanda Thomas. I completed my Bachelor’s Degree at UC Santa Cruz, where I was involved with the UCSC Seismology Group with Professors Emily E. Brodsky and Heather Savage.
I am interested in earthquake seismology, earthquake and fault mechanics, and applying data mining methods to geophysical datasets. My work frequently involves the application of signal processing, machine learning algorithms, and high-performance computing using the Talapas HPC.
