The B.EAST!: Winter Issue

wblake-dragon-sun-womanThe Winter Issue of The B.EAST!: A Magazine of Intellect and Imagination is coming soon to a computer near you. To complete the magazine, the editors would like everyone to take a brief survey on life at UO and in Bean East. We’ll tabulate the results, create Word Clouds, and include them in the Winter Issue.

If you did not submit anything this time around, don’t worry–we’ll have a Spring Issue in May. Contact the editors for more information.

Bean East has its own electronic magazine, and the Fall Preview issue is out! The editors are now actively seeking submissions for our first issue. The magazine is a forum for students to 1) showcase their academic accomplishments, 2) share their experiences in residence life, and 3) brag about their adventures in Eugene and around Oregon. See our Facebook and Twitter pages for more information.

DEADLINE: January 15, 2016

Contributors will have the chance to win gift cards ($45.00; $20.00; $10.00) to the Duck Store, but don’t send us your stuff because you want a cash prize–do it instead for the glory that comes with attaining eternal fame (as Achilles, Odysseus, and other Greek heroes would say).

I. Academic Life

Are you particularly proud of your poetry, short story, or ceramics sculpture? How about your final project in geology or ethnic studies? Maybe you created a short film or have a video showcasing your musical talents? Whatever it is, we want to show it off to the rest of the community!

II. Residential Life

Living with a couple hundred new people is … different. Have you participated in any hall events or programs that have 1) challenged you to think differently, 2) helped you appreciate living in community, or 3) been really fun? Send us your personal anecdotes, short reflections, or images that reflect your experiences as a member of the Bean East family.

III. #exploregon

Sleep, eat, class, class, eat, class, study, class, eat, study, sleep. Rinse, repeat.

We all know that it’s easy to slide into a routine when living on campus. But intrepid students know that life exists outside this “bubble” and get out and explore. So, what’ve you been doing outside of class? Camping in the forest, surfing on the coast, urban hiking in Portland … wherever you’ve been, we want to hear about it! Send us your pictures climbing Smith Rock, watching the tide roll in, or enjoying a treat at Salt & Straw.
