Art Museum Tour

20160121visart-1-2Welcome back everyone! Your student government has arranged for Bean East students to take a private, guided tour of the university’s Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art on April 13 (5:00-6:00 pm). Those who participate will have the chance to win one of two limited edition Brian Lanker photographs of David Bowie.

The tour will consist of works from the museum’s outstanding permanent collection as well as its temporary exhibits and masterworks (including paintings by Matisse, Renoir, Warhol, and Rothko).

Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity to become familiar with your world-class museum. Students should meet in the Bean East courtyard at 4:40 pm to walk over to the museum.

The B.EAST!: Winter Issue

wblake-dragon-sun-womanThe Winter Issue of The B.EAST!: A Magazine of Intellect and Imagination is coming soon to a computer near you. To complete the magazine, the editors would like everyone to take a brief survey on life at UO and in Bean East. We’ll tabulate the results, create Word Clouds, and include them in the Winter Issue.

If you did not submit anything this time around, don’t worry–we’ll have a Spring Issue in May. Contact the editors for more information.

Shakespeare Behind Bars

Shake-Bars-740x410

In this documentary, a theater troupe consisting entirely of convicted felons performs the plays of William Shakespeare for a captive audience. The troupe is already in its seventh year when the film crew joins them as they attempt to put on “The Tempest,” a play largely about the dangers of social isolation. In candid interviews, the film chronicles the project from its casting, through its rehearsals and finally to its performance at the Luther Luckett Correctional Complex in Kentucky.
