Nothing says “summer vacation” like taking a bunch of advanced stats classes, ammiright?
Here are a couple summer classes on Bayesian analysis for social scientists. Please comment on this post if you know of other classes or training opportunities for this summer (or email me, and I’ll add it into the body of the post itself).
- ICPSR is offering four (four!!) separate summer courses on Bayesian analysis, one of which is this year’s version of the Kruschke class Jacob took last year. The classes range from a few days of accelerated material (Kruschke’s) to four full weeks of Bayesian goodness.
- Lee & Wagenmakers are offering their week-long course on Bayesian modeling again, in Amsterdam. This is the one I (Rose) did last year, and it was awesome. Also, Amsterdam is all full of canals and tulips and stuff, which is great.
By the way, if you clicked on the ICPSR registration information and thought “holy $hit these classes are expensive!” keep in mind that there are a handful of scholarships available through ICPSR (http://www.icpsr.umich.edu/icpsrweb/content/sumprog/scholarships/index.html) and some departmental awards that work well for funding training and workshops like this (e.g. the Gregores summer award). Both the ICPSR scholarships and the psych departmental awards are due in about 2 weeks, so act now while supplies last!
