Place:

• Granada was remarkable in that it had small community spaces, “Placetas,” scattered throughout the city. One or several of these were accessible to many residents, often with a variety to chose from.

Culture:

• Granada has a culture of people gathering spontaneously in public spaces. When we were there, there was a crowd gathered around a couple of musicians at an overlook of the Alhambra. We could strive to create places for this type of interaction as well.

Urban Ecology:

• Urban gardens have many benefits, including providing healthy recreational opportunities and bringing the food system closer to individuals, which bolsters ecological knowledge.
