2.3 Phenomena: T_TORRES
Phenomenon of Place
- This reading focuses on phenomenology and the experiences of art and architecture. Explaining how as children we start to experience the world through our senses and how our relationship with earth, place, at an early age determines our future experiences. Nurturing identification and orientation, humans finds dwellings and places to dwell when the mind is able to, and applied through art and architecture, concertize the world within the building. As for our project, I think that especially regarding children which will be present in our programming, we must create an environment and a world for them that supports them to recognize their orientation and personal identity with MdPV, the history of their families, town, and city. Through connections.
Towards New Horizons
- Abstract, meditative, innovation, towards a new horizon of architecture, rather than solely a structure to provide shelter, architecture has, is, and will now be a tool to improve health, connections to people, nature, and life. Referencing modernism, postmodernism, using our past theories to shape a new future towards revitalizing the human spirit itself through the build environment. Process beyond beauty. Responding to our specific site, MdPV, there is so much history, a very specific climate, lots of geography which relates to water, and wind. Allowing us potentially to harness nature in our built environment and allow connections for all ages, supporting cohesion at an urban scale. Rather than creating a large building which dominates and over powers nature, we have new horizons to focus on along with the fine grained process through data collection and experiences of site and place at a very detailed, microscopic scale, to provide us with a strong base for our design.
