A sensor technology is a device that is able to collect and collaborate data of a given site, this technology is used to compare, analyze, and develop new designs from the derived data as it allows for a better understanding of the place. 

The data from the sensor can be used by parents through an app, as it will enlist how much of the area is shaded for the children and parents to know when it’s appropriate outside to full enjoy the central corridor. 

Sensor/s used:

  • Light Sensor Monitor

 

Interaction location:

  • The arduinos themselves will  be placed on every third on each section of the central corridor, however the information will be uploaded onto a mobile app.

Actuation:

  • Light sensor through iphone.

Information Type:

  • The data will initially be very numeric as it will calculate the UV rays, but will then show as colors on the mobile app to quickly and effectively express the outdoor conditions.

Interaction Type Variable:

  • The Objects themselves, the canopies specifically, will then be closed off to provide more shade if the app were to determine that the sun UV rays are too harmful outside. This will then allow the corridor to then be shaded enough for cooling and children’s enjoyment.
