Toward New Horizons in Architecture – Tadao Ando

Ando believes in designing spaces that may not have a designated function and admiring the simplicity of a few critical moves. The difference between nature and the built environment, while Ando classifies them both as environments themselves, act in different ways in different cultures. It is often perceived as a barrier in Western culture whereas eastern culture embraces the difference as a passage or threshold between experiences. Figuring out when to use both in our design will be critical for our efforts going forward. He believes that the presence of architecture will inevitably create new landscape, and this implies the need to apply a consistent logic that enhances the sight.
