Phenomenon of Place Reading

The intro to The Phenomenon of Place was interesting because we saw the larger picture of this reading, emphasizing the concept of creating places of dwelling. The reading emphasized the importance of qualities of material light and color and the symbolic significance of the joint, which goes into our design ideas that can be implemented in this project. Creating a frame for nature through our design, something as simple as the boundary of urban farming vs hardscape. 

The Phenomenon of Place emphasizes the idea of any real presence is intimately linked with a character. In terms of social cohesion of a space, the presence of the community is linked to many characters. For example, the presence of a community can be sparked through a connection with nature, or simply having a seating area, shading, etc.
