This reading explores the multitude of opportunities in data collection given to us by the advent of the cellphone and modern technologies. I was captivated the by Trash | Track project in Seattle. The involvement of volunteers on such a large scale brought the necessary manpower to achieve the level of insight gained by its success. My biggest concern when reading, in the beginning, was privacy. I immediately pictured angry trump supporters yelling over Russia stealing their data. The idea of making data accessible to public, responsibly, was relieving. I hope the public feel empowered to engage in data acquisition projects to create more efficient and sustainable systems in the future.
