Reading Bottom Up

Reading Bottom Up

City planning from the bottom up is an important concept for building community cohesion and making sure the community buys into what is being done. In the case of the 22@ neighborhood in Barcelona, when implementing changes to everyday life for people many factors were taken into consideration. These factors ranged from the political environment both past and present along with Catalan traditions and how they have been affected by past interventions to the previously autonomous village of Poblenou. If done correctly and thoughtfully, bottom up planning can lead to cohesive communities where traditions are grown and social ties are strengthened.
