Toward New Horizons – Ando

From Ando’s piece “Toward New Horizons”, he discusses how his work changes from an experience focused work relating mostly to the senses, and less about function of the space. I appreciate how much he acknowledges how he is inherently creating a new landscape, which is attached to the architecture. By placing new architecture in a space characteristics like microclimate, water storage and catchment, and habitat changes within the space. Whether positive or negative, I think this more general line of thinking within a larger space is helpful when designing and preparing for human and animal adaptation. With phenomenon and a greater extent in mind, we can create richer spaces along borders and intersections of designing cities.
