02B Tiling Exercise

Tiling: Barcelona urban health design criteria + Eixample block parameters

This exercise begins to explore analog parametric procedures to later model Eixample and Superilles unit to system relationships.
Use Rhino only, using the Plot width, line type and color in the Layers panel to control line weight, linetypes, etc. Use the Layouts for scaling and export a JPG in 300 dpi. Use Make2D.

This tiling exercise uses a base unit module (any possible deformations within them) and replications (copy, mirror, rotate, etc).
Consider asymmetry in the block unit. Attempt to explore your own Cerda’s blocks as shown in class with at least 3 x 3 units:

• (2)  2D line drawings
• (1) 3D line drawing in axon or isometric view.

Urban health issues may relate to light (consider north arrow), prevailing wind, sun light exposure (harsh west in summer), noise to a predominant direction, or privacy, habitat flows, rain water flow, solar energy capture and other forces.
