Welcome and Week 01

The program will be organized into three concurrent investigations this first week:

1) Neighborhood typology: Orientation in Barcelona and starting with neighborhood typology 1) Maritime Metropolis

2) Media Methods: We will begin with on-site analysis and drawing methods of district, neighborhood and urban room scale.  We will beginning color exercises to document beginning systems thinking as time, material and location collage diagrams, ex. James Corner.  We will use mixed analog and digital media. Delicate LINE drawings, abstraction and materiality will be stressed.

3) Environmental data, baseline, Superilla and hyper-local. We will familiarize ourselves with the Superilla and 22@ district scales where we will apply our projects to street and plaza designs. Measurement and design strategies will serve principles of small-scale phenomena of social interaction and ecological qualities of air, water and heat/light.
