Final reflection for BA 199

Throughout the BA 199 I learned a lot of useful things that I will apply as my college career progresses, but I think the most important were: networking and all the different resources we have on campus. Like I said in my first reflection, a lot of success comes with knowing people and who knows you so I think that the class and the networking assignment is going to be the most useful in completing college and then on throughout my future career. What I didn’t realize before completing BA 199 was how many resources we have on campus. Me personally have used the tutoring centers to my advantage and when talking to some of my classmates, they have never been or heard about them. When they told me this, I stressed the importance of utilizing the tutoring centers. It helped me figure out what I did not know and overall helped my confidence going into finals. I have also learned that going into finals well studied and with confidence will help you perform your best.

Three SMART goals that I have made for myself are: joining and being active in a business related club by the end of winter term, attending my professors office hours in my ECON 201 class at least two times a month to check in, ask questions, and get to know my professor, and my last SMART goal is getting at least a 3.0 GPA in my business classes, BA 101 ECON 201 and ECON 202 at the end of this year. My first two SMART goals are focused on networking and using my resources. I feel that getting into a business related club will help me get a feel of the different business aspects but also network with people who have the same interests. Meeting with my professors is also a way of networking because I would much rather them get to know me know rather than my senior year when I am hoping for them to write letters of recommendation for after college. My last SMART goal is getting a 3.0 GPA in my business classes. Not only is it required for acceptance for the business school, it will also help me gain the proper studying skills and time management necessary to obtain a high GPA at the end of my college career.

Overall, I thought that the BA 199 class was a very smart class to take my first term of my freshmen year. I think that all freshmen should be required to take a class like this during their first year because it has honestly taught me a wide variety of skills that I know I can apply all throughout school.
