On Sunday November 21st, 2021, members of ASHP attended a weekly drag brunch at Darcelle XV Showplace, one of the country’s oldest drag venues and the first LGBTQ-related historic resource on Oregon’s National Register!
The performances were phenomenal, and Darcelle herself was in attendance in the audience. ASHP is eternally grateful to have been able to experience a gender-diverse show on Trans Day of Remembrance and a few short days after Darcelle’s 91st birthday. It is especially important for preservationists to immerse themselves in intangible history, while remaining aware of power differences and privilege.
