Check out this post on the the Americans for the Arts ARTSblog, as it highlights a cultural asset mapping project in Los Angeles County that seeks to demonstrate solid connections between community, health, and the arts. While certainly of interest to those of you working on the SCY: Springfield efforts this term, this post/project also speaks to many of the issues we’ve been dancing around in class while discussing participation, engagement, arts programming, access, identities—bascially all the contested and emergent questions surrounding the role of arts in society. Great stuff to continue contemplating…and then turning into action!
