New Interior Architecture Graduate Students Onboarding, Advising, & Registration: Summer Term

Welcome, New Graduate Admits to the Interior Architecture Major for Summer Term!

You are invited to Grad Day! Each year, we welcome admitted graduate students to Grad Day to learn more about the programs.

Getting Started: If you accepted the offer of admission, you will receive a new student onboarding orientation invitation in the Spring term from Student Services (archadvisor@uoregon.edu) that will walk you through what you need to know to get started at the UO. In the meantime, please review the following:

  1. Claim Your Duck ID*
  2. Summer Term Start Orientation July 14th & 15th
  3. Summer Term Program Dates for Track I: July 18th – September 11th

Summer 2022 courses for incoming graduate students in Architecture, Interior Architecture, and Landscape Architecture will be offered as a combination of remote and in-person instruction or remote instruction, depending on the public health context. In either case, we are planning to provide facilities access including a dedicated studio desk for each student, course-related site visits, and other in-person activities in keeping with university guidance regarding COVID-19.

Don’t forget to join your Facebook Group for MIArc Track 1 and take a virtual tour!

Transcript Evaluations:

The results of the transfer evaluations will be sent during the orientation series from student services. After receiving this plan you may schedule an appointment with an advisor to review the course content together and discuss the exact courses that you should take.

SAE Departmental Academic Advising:

Though we will not be holding in-person advising appointments, we are working outside of the office Monday–Friday to continue to advise and assist students through virtual appointments.

SAE Mandatory Hardware and Software Requirements:

All students in the Department of Architecture are required to have a personal computer. The most current specifications are available on the College of Design Technology Services website. Please pay close attention to the hardware and software requirements and memory space required. There is also a listing of specific software on this page.

SAE Studio Field Trips:

Summer programming is intense and immersive, we strongly recommend not scheduling travel or weekend engagements during the initial summer term.

You will be taking at least one field trip during your summer studio. The details will be provided by your studio instructor.

Most of the design studios take a field trip at the beginning of the term, typically the first Friday, and sometimes an overnight trip is required.

You will continue to add to the starter list and, with good care, much of the equipment you purchase will last your entire design career. Some of the items may also be available used.
