Wines “Green Architecture”
Designing an ecologically inspired building is definitely possible. I feel that having this as a concept is not taught enough. The idea of it usually isn’t even considered as a concept. There have been many times where the concept of my design has been based of off some sort of natural element. All I needed to do was to take that concept further to resonate ecologically and not just aesthetically.
In my present studio, the assignment is to design a pedestrian square with surrounding buildings. The design of the square came from the surrounding urban context and how it affected this certain plot of land. Considering the urban context we are currently in, this design can easily be manipulated to incorporate “eco-centric” design. The buildings are then a reflection of the design of the square, also bringing in ecology and transforming it into an art that can not only be showcased, but provide a sustainable use as well.
