Well things are coming along. I was pretty happy with the urban concept so far and I think it’ll be very useful in informing the architecture of my building. I’ve been shifting my program around trying to figure out what my building wants to be. At one point I wanted to focus on the school, and then focus on creating more of a place where all materials can be recycled. I was speaking to Dustin about my project and he pointed me in the direction of a precedent that has a striking similarity to the program I have been focusing more on. It is the Solid waste Transfer and Recycling Center in Pheonix Arizona. This building acts as a composting and recycling waste plant but also incorporates a large portion of its program around community education, which is exactly what I want to do. I decided that my interests lie in community oriented design so I think that I want this building to act as a community center as well as deal with waste management in the area. After all buildings should be designed with people in mind. So all this precedent combined with my urban investigation has helped me greatly in shaping the program of the building. I will have a portion of it which will focus on recycling and composting but I will also have a portion of it which will act as a community center for art and education. I am going to incorporate workshops and classes which will allow people to learn trades and the recycled waste will act as a nutrient for these activities. Thanks Dustin!
We have never attempt to work with interior planning catalogues like you explain! Sorry to say.
